Postcards Sent Across the Sea

One of the most enjoyable things about blogging is the wonderful people you “meet” from all over the world. For me, one of those people is Emma. Emma recently celebrated her 50th birthday and in honor of that momentous occasion, she emailed fellow blogging friends and asked if they’d like to join her in a postcard swap commemorating her birthday. I was one of those lucky people she emailed! First, I must tell you that Emma lives in the most glorious place, one I’ve never seen in person but would very much love to visit one day; even the name is magical: an island called Isle of Skye in Scotland. (My two favorite appraisers on Antique’s Roadshow are both from Scotland, simply because I just love to listen them talk. And okay, there you go…yes, I am an Antique’s Roadshow junkie.) Above is the postcard I received from Emma and below are two views of the one I created and sent her in return. On the back I wrote “My wish for you is your wish come true.” Take a peek over at Emma’s blog to see all the amazing postcards she’s been receiving for her birthday!

I saw your card on Emma's blog. love the one she sent you. Have you seen Collin & Justin's House Heist? I see it on BBC America...two Scottish decorators, they have been in Canada for their new show. love to hear them bicker!

Here we go again, Kelly: I LOVE Antiques Roadshow! It's a must-see in our home. Wonder what else we both like?!?!?

What a great idea to honor one's birthday. Such a special day! Your card to Emma is so pretty. I just did the Postcard Swap with Beth Nichols and can't wait to see what everyone created.

Happy Wednesday :)

What lovely postcards.

Welcome to The Artistic Mother's Art Group.

I am so thrilled that you are joining us.
We will be allowing two weeks for each project. But if you get behind, please don't worry. Just keep working a little each day. The whole point of this group is to develop the habit of doing art each day. It is also so we can encourage one another and be an accountability group. I personally need the accountability part of it. Knowing that others are coming to see what I'm up to is very motivational; otherwise, I may not finish it on my own. Some projects may be easier for you than others and may allow you to catch up. But if you don't, don't get discouraged. Just keep on going. This is a low pressure group. I want everyone to have fun and also enjoy visiting one another.
And please do a blog post about your participation in the group inviting others to join. Please give a link to my blog for those who may wish to join so they can come here and get the details and sign in. I am keeping a master list of all participants.

Each week do a post of your progress as you go through the book. When posting each week, please mention the group with a link to my blog. That way people can go to my blog and see the list of the other participants and click around to see their progress as well.

Since our group has grown so much, instead of having to put all of the links in each post or on your sidebar, I have made a button for the group. Just grab my button and put that in your sidebar. I will keep the list of all participants in my sidebar.

Please check my blog often for tips, notes of encouragement and exciting news. And please go and read my previous posts because they contain resources that will help you get a good start with the group.

Please also go back and read all of the posts I have written about The Artistic Mother group, starting near the end of February because there is a lot of good information in those posts that will help you get a good start with us. You can find all of them easily by going to "Labels" a little ways down in my side bar and clicking on "The Artistic Mother" label.

And one last thing. Please come and check the blog list of participants on a regular basis and visit and comment as much as you can. We want to all encourage one another.

And could you please send me your email address to sewingwithtrudy at yahoo dot com so that if I want to do a group email I'll have everyone's address? Thanks so much.
